If you’re not as scientifically literate as I am, a good way to start is to begin reading about functional medicine. I had to sift through a lot of different and disparate data and experiment on myself in order to figure out what would work for me. They instead largely rely on governing boards for guidance, and these boards are made up of busy people that give “one size fits all” solutions for complex problems. There’s various reasons for this, one being that health and diet are extremely individual, another being the shear quantity of studies of various qualities being done is so great that no doctor can keep up with it. It turns out that there’s a lot of solid science out there that few doctors and even specialists know about. But I actually have a bit of scientific background (taught by a parent that was an engineer and climate scientist) and am relatively good at reading and interpreting studies. Some of this is going to sound unbelievable because it seems to fly in the face of medical science. It will include stories of how we personally became healthier and recipes.
